Name Candy Davis Fletcher

Family Dear Husband of 14 years, Darin. Children: Step-Son Ashton (18 years), Samantha (12 years), Chandler (7 years), and Avery (2 years).

How long have you been scrapping? Almost 5 years now.

What are you currently working on? An 8x8" Valentine Swap, a Perpetual Calendar Binder, and a Disney Album.

How much time do you spend scrapbooking? I usually try to scrapbook a few nights out of the week. When I scrapbook, I usually do my BEST work when I'm alone.

Where do you get your ideas/inspiration?
I know people may think that this is cliche`, but I KNOW I get my ideas and inspiration from God. Sometimes when I'm about to work on a project, I'll just close my eyes and an idea will pop up in my head....then I'll say, "Thank you God" and go from there! I also enjoy looking at scrapbooking magazines and layouts in scrapbooking stores for my inspiration. If I'm inspired this way, I will most definitely change the layout or idea to make it my own!

Favorite Tool and why? I probably would have answered this question differently a year ago, but I'll have to say that my favorite tools are my Cricut and Cuttlebug Machines!! Hands down, there's nothing ELSE that compares to me! These have been a tremendous help for me because if I'm in the middle of a layout and I need another font for a title, tag, or shape I can use these two machines to get exactly what I need. I also would like to say that Sketches is another one of my favorite tools. They make creating some layouts so easy! Because of Tiare Smith, I just recently started using sketches on a regular basis!

Favorite Technique and why? I would have to say that my favorite technique is distressing. Once I learned how to distress and why it's done, it's all I do to my layouts now! It can cover up a multitude of mistakes AND it ages things so they don't look BRAND NEW! It's a great technique that I know I'll use for years to come!

Time or Money Saving Tip Use what you have!! This is where my Cricut and Cuttlebug machines come into play, because I can use "scraps" of cardstock and patterned papers with these die cutting machines and my layouts still turn out just fine. Also, use rubber stamps!! They're simple and easy to use!

Organizational Tip I don't like clutter, so I TRY to organize behind cabinets. I use the Iris 12 x12 plastic containers for embellishments, rub-ons, stickers, and current project and they are labeled accordingly. The cropper hopper containers hold my cardstock and patterned papers. My biggest tip is to "Label Everything"! This helps so I won't spend a lot of time looking for what I need.

List your other Scrappin’ accomplishments(Contests, published etc.) One of my most recent accomplishments was completing my Mom's Red Hat Society album. These women really enjoy their album that started with an idea and turned into a years worth of memories being preserved! I haven't spent any of my time sending my layouts into contests and magazines to be published...although my family and friends have told me that I should! I just enjoy scrapbooking; this is a creative outlet for me. When I do submit my ideas and layouts to magazines, I hope others will be inspired to be creative also!

What are your future scrapbooking aspirations/goals? I aspire to continue to be creative! That's it.....and whatever happens from there is exactly where God wants me to be!

Anything else you want to say to Scraps of Color readers? Everyone has a scrapbooking style....don't change your style to try to be like someone else. Just be you and enjoy your scrapbooking style, and you will be satisfied. I use to try to do other scrapbooking styles, and then I realized that it wasn't me, and I was never pleased with my layouts. Now, I just do my style and I LOVE IT....it's uniquely mine!
