Cultural Infusion

This year instead of making the usual New Year’s Resolutions, that I probably won’t keep any way, I decided to make a list of ways to further investigate of my own heritage and expose my children to other cultures. Here’s my “Cultural To Do List”, I hope you are inspired to create one too:
 

• Attend a Chinese New Year Celebration 
• Visit an African-American Museum or place of interest 
• Try bellydancing (the origin of many dances) 
• Interview a co-worker about her Irish heritage
• Interview my Dad about his military service in Japan 
• Add Jewish décor to my home 
• Research back one more generation on our family tree 
• Have dinner with our Jamaican neighbors 
• Attend an International Festival 
• Find an artifact from Africa’s Central Congo area to share at our family reunion 
• Listen to Gullah music
• Compare daily life in Paris to daily life in our hometown 
• Learn to cook a Spanish dish 
• Read a new idea book…Ethnic Scrapbooking (coming in 2007)
